Tried to do the same thing for both my parents, and whilst the resolutions were true enough, as well as help the family both spiritually, bodily and financially, my mum said I couldn’t “force” any of the resolutions on them, what with my dad’s dementia, let alone make either of them sign their own…
…plus if my sister saw them, she’d probably have a fit as I had my mum not only allow me to work WHERE I WANT to work this year (something she’s been denying me for the last two years – despite my choice of work location ticking all her boxes except one; contract lasting only 2 year a time) but to also stand up for me whenever my sister has a go at me, even when I’ve done nothing wrong as whilst my sister loves us (though she has a strange and alienating way of showing it) she’s starting to not understand her family any more…
…though some resolutions she actually DID agree with (mostly cutting down their drinking to the weekends and getting my dad out of the house for 1/2 a day – weather permitting)
No resolutions, perfect already, no need to change…the rest of you best get started though.
